British monarchy sees King Charles III relocate to Clarence House as Prince Andrew remains estranged

King Charles III and Queen Camilla will make Clarence House their official residence after Buckingham Palace completes a multiyear renovation, ending the tradition of the monarch living at Buckingham for the first time since Queen Victoria. Protocol expert María José Gómez Verdú said the move "sends the message that the prestige of an institution does not depend on the building in which the king sleeps," and it could allow more of Buckingham Palace to be opened to visitors, boosting tourism revenue.

At the same time, Prince Andrew, who was stripped of royal duties following his association with Jeffrey Epstein, continues to assert a symbolic presence within the family. He reportedly emailed his daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, urging them to "keep their heads held high" and attend their cousin Peter Phillips’s wedding. The gesture is viewed as a personal challenge to King Charles III, while Andrew remains excluded from official engagements and stays abroad, highlighting ongoing tensions within the royal household.
