British Museum to adjust operations for Bayeux Tapestry crowds

The British Museum is implementing new measures to manage massive crowds following the arrival of the 11th-century Bayeux Tapestry. The 70-meter-long embroidery, on loan from France, has seen unprecedented demand, with nearly 100,000 tickets sold on its first day of availability.

To address long queues and visitors being turned away, the museum plans to extend its opening hours, though specific timings have not yet been announced. Immediate improvements include the introduction of an audio guide, clearer signage, and seating for those waiting in line. To manage the flow of people, a pre-recorded message is being used to encourage visitors to follow a one-way route through the exhibition.

The museum recently apologized and issued refunds to visitors who were unable to view the tapestry due to a private gala dinner. The exhibition, which opened on September 10, is scheduled to remain in London until July of next year.
