British national detained for orchestrating 100,000 euro safe theft in Rhodes
A 63-year-old British national has been placed in pretrial detention in Rhodes following allegations that he orchestrated the theft of a safe containing approximately 100,000 euros and 1,200 British pounds from a fellow British citizen in Faliraki.
Investigators allege the man played a central role in organizing the burglary. To create an alibi, he reportedly invited the victim to meet at a beach bar while his accomplices were inside the residence. He was later seen transporting the victim back to his home.
During his interrogation, the suspect claimed he was coerced into participating by two accomplices who allegedly threatened him and his daughter with a skewer. He further claimed that the cash found at his residence was being held on behalf of the other perpetrators. The two accomplices fled to the United Kingdom shortly after the incident and remain at large. The investigation was aided by security camera footage from the Faliraki area.
