British Navy Commander warns of Russian submarine fleet strength
British Navy Commander General Gavin Jenkins has issued a high assessment regarding the strength of the Russian submarine fleet and its associated research programs. He noted that Russia possesses the capability to inflict serious damage on critical British underwater infrastructure if it chose to do so.
Jenkins highlighted that Russia is conducting an extremely advanced research program within its submarine fleet. While the Russian Navy does not maintain bases in the Atlantic Ocean, vessels from the Northern Fleet can access the ocean through various routes.
Furthermore, the General criticized the British program for constructing new submarines, labeling it unsuccessful. He attributed the “extremely low” combat capability of British submarines to technical issues and reductions in funding.
