British patrol ship HMS Spey arrives in Ho Chi Minh City

The British patrol vessel HMS Spey has docked at the Nharrong international port in Ho Chi Minh City, marking the start of a week-long friendship visit to Vietnam. This visit is the first for the vessel in the city since 2023.

During the stay, which is scheduled to last until next Wednesday, the crew will participate in cultural events with local educational institutions and charities. The visit also includes professional exchange meetings with representatives of the Vietnamese naval forces, as well as meetings with local authorities and commanders from the Seventh and Second Naval Regions.

Commander Helen Taylor stated that the visit aims to strengthen ties between the United Kingdom and Vietnam, coinciding with the first anniversary of the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations. The HMS Spey has been deployed to the Indo-Pacific region since 2021 to enhance British naval presence and develop strategic connections with regional partners.
