British Racing Motors restores original BRM P351 Group C prototype
British Racing Motors (BRM) has completed the restoration of the BRM P351, the only original chassis of the Group C prototype designed for the 1992 World Sportscar Championship. The project, managed by Ian Dawson and Dawson Racing, involved reversing a previous transformation where the car had been converted into the BRM P301 with a Nissan V6 engine.
The restored P351 features its original 3.5-liter Weslake V12 engine, a unit derived from the 1967 Formula 1 engines used by the Eagle team. In its 1992 configuration, the engine produced approximately 625 hp and allowed the car to reach speeds of 348 km/h on the Mulsanne Straight during the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Unlike a standard museum restoration, BRM intends to return the vehicle to active competition.
