British Royal Family anecdotes shared by Penny Mordaunt

Penny Mordaunt has shared behind-the-scenes details regarding the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla. Speaking at the Cheltenham Literature Festival, the former Defense Minister noted that the King appeared "too bored to death" during coronation rehearsals after two weeks of preparation.

Mordaunt recounted that the King's demeanor changed when Prince Louis arrived for a visit. The rehearsal was reportedly interrupted so the King could show the five-year-old the Crown Jewels.

Mordaunt also described her own experience during the ceremony, where she carried the eight-pound ceremonial State Sword. She noted that while she wore a gold-embroidered gown styled like a Greek goddess for the procession, she wore slippers behind the scenes for comfort.
