UK Royal Family tax disclosures show Prince William paid £20 million in taxes
Prince William, as Prince of Wales, disclosed that he has paid more than £20 million in income and capital‑gains tax since assuming the role, with £7.76 million paid in 2024‑25 and £8.34 million in 2023‑24. The Duke of Cornwall’s accounts show his private income of £21.6 million for 2025‑26 and a net‑worth of about £1.2 billion derived from the Duchy.
King Charles III also released his tax figure for the 2024‑25 fiscal year, revealing a payment of $17.2 million. Combined, the sovereign and his son have contributed over $66 million in taxes to Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs since Charles became king in 2022. The palace framed the disclosures as part of a broader commitment to financial transparency for the royal household.
Both statements note that the monarch’s income comes primarily from the Duchy of Lancaster, while William’s earnings are tied to the Duchy of Cornwall. The releases mark the first detailed public accounting of the royal family’s tax contributions in more than three years.
