British teenager sentenced for smuggling 20kg of cannabis from Thailand

A 19-year-old British man, Noah B. from Southampton, has been sentenced to a total of three years and eight months in prison following a drug smuggling attempt and a separate violent incident.

After being lured by a criminal group via Snapchat with the promise of a free holiday to Thailand, B. attempted to transport over 20 kilograms of cannabis back to the United Kingdom. Upon arrival at Heathrow Airport, UK Border Force officers discovered 41 packages of cannabis in his suitcases, with an estimated UK value of up to £600,000. B. stated he was aware he was transporting drugs but claimed he did not know the exact contents.

In addition to the sixteen-month sentence for drug smuggling, B. received two years and four months for involvement in violence during unrest in Southampton on June 2.
