British tourist arrested in Ibiza after dangerous high-speed police chase

A 38-year-old British tourist has been arrested in Santa Eulària, Ibiza, following a dangerous high-speed pursuit on the EI-600 road connecting Ibiza and Sant Antoni de Portmany.

The incident occurred in the early hours of September 4 during a Guardia Civil alcohol and drug checkpoint near nightlife venues. The driver ignored orders to stop, nearly striking officers before fleeing at high speed. During the escape, the individual performed extremely dangerous maneuvers, forcing other motorists to take emergency evasive action to avoid head-on collisions.

Investigators used video footage recorded by citizens and uploaded to social media to reconstruct the vehicle's erratic path. This evidence allowed the Traffic Detachment to locate and arrest the suspect in his hotel room. The individual faces charges of reckless driving, which carries potential penalties of six months to two years in prison and a driving ban of one to six years.
