British tourist Elizabeth Jane Ross killed, body found in suitcase in Athens' Kypseli

The corpse of 38‑year‑old British citizen Elizabeth Jane Ross was discovered on 18 July inside a suitcase in an abandoned building on Euvelpidon Street in the Kypseli neighbourhood of Athens. The woman had arrived in the city from the United States in late June and was staying with Greek friends in Keratsini. On 15 July she left their home saying she would meet acquaintances from the United States in Kypseli, and she was not seen again.

Greek police are focusing on the 72‑hour window before the body was found. Investigators say the killer likely carried the suitcase on foot to the site. Ross’s mobile phone remained active after her death, sending a series of messages to family in Edinburgh and a Greek friend that suggested she was alive, a tactic believed to delay the missing‑person report. Autopsy results are pending and the murder remains under active investigation.
