British tourist found dead near abandoned Sicilian farm

The body of 35-year-old British tourist Benjamin John Braithwaite was discovered near an abandoned farm in Sicily on September 13. The man, originally from Leeds, was found naked near a tent in a rural area between Noto and Canicattini Bagni in the province of Syracuse.

Local authorities and residents have noted disturbing items near the body, including a goat's head, drug paraphernalia, a rope, and esoteric symbols. These findings have led to local speculation regarding potential ritualistic involvement; however, Italian investigators have maintained caution, stating that no immediate evidence confirms such a theory.

Braithwaite had reportedly been camping in the area for several days with the intention of joining a group of nomads living in the Sicilian mountains. Investigators observed marks on his neck, and further details regarding the cause of death are expected following an autopsy and toxicological examinations scheduled for September 22.
