British tourists cleared after Hantavirus quarantine in Milan

Two United Kingdom citizens—a 60‑year‑old man and a 20‑year‑old woman—were identified as contacts of confirmed Hantavirus cases and placed under precautionary isolation in Milan, Italy. Following the protocol established by the Italian Ministry of Health, the Lombardy Region, local health agencies, the Sacco hospital and the Military Hospital of Baggio, they were monitored twice daily and underwent virological testing. Both tests returned negative and neither showed symptoms, allowing the quarantine to end on 7 June.

Regional Welfare assessor Guido Bertolaso praised the response, stating that the outcome “demonstrates the reactivity of our health system” and highlighted the coordinated effort built on experience from the COVID‑19 pandemic.
