British triple‑homicide suspect held in South Africa
Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma, a 45‑year‑old British citizen of Zimbabwean heritage, is suspected of murdering his wife and two daughters in Bedfordshire, England. Their bodies were discovered in early July.
After leaving the United Kingdom via Heathrow Airport, Tshuma arrived in Johannesburg on July 5 and purchased an unlicensed firearm, which police say may have been intended for suicide. He was arrested in Johannesburg, appeared before a magistrate’s court and was remanded in custody until July 22 while authorities determine the legality of his stay and consider a UK extradition request.
South African police have charged Tshuma with illegal possession of a firearm, an offence that can carry up to 15 years in prison for first‑time offenders. British prosecutors have authorized three counts of murder against him. Tshuma’s family in South Africa assisted police in locating him, and they did not shelter him.
