British Virgin Islands to host 284 Excellence Film Festival in 2026

The 284 Excellence Film Festival will return from 29 October to 1 November 2026, aiming to position the British Virgin Islands as a premier destination for filmmakers, cinema lovers and cultural tourists. The edition will spotlight "Caribbean Folklore & Fables," showcasing stories of jumbies, ancestral spirits, legends and oral traditions.

The programme includes international, regional and national films, a student smartphone short‑film competition called “Say Less” for ages 9‑19, and support from the British Virgin Islands Film Commission in location scouting, permits and logistics. Partner festivals such as the Miami Film Festival, BronzeLens Film Festival and Conch Shell International Film Festival are involved, underscoring the event’s role as a new cultural gateway to the Caribbean.
