British woman found dead in Casoli home after two months

The body of 61-year-old British citizen Amanda Rosina Ellis was discovered in her home in Casoli, Chieti, after she had been missing for approximately two months. Neighbors and local officials raised the alarm after a strong odor emanating from her apartment became noticeable on the street, which was initially mistaken for a sewage issue.

Emergency responders, including the Carabinieri and firefighters, entered the residence using protective equipment. The woman's body was found in the bathroom in an advanced state of decomposition. Preliminary investigations suggest the death may have been accidental, as there were no signs of forced entry or struggle within the well-maintained home.

Authorities are investigating the possibility that Ellis may have slipped or suffered a medical emergency, striking her head against a door frame and becoming unable to seek help. Ellis had lived in the Abruzzo region for several years and was described by neighbors as a reserved but well-liked resident.
