British women face court charges following major airport drug seizures

Two separate incidents involving British women and large drug seizures at international airports have recently appeared in court.

In Dublin, 51-year-old Kafayat Adeniyi was denied bail after being charged with the unlawful possession, supply, and importation of cannabis and methamphetamine. Authorities seized drugs valued at €950,000 from her luggage at Dublin Airport while she was traveling from Toronto to London. Prosecutors alleged she admitted to importing the drugs for money, though she claimed she was unaware of the specific types or value of the substances. She remains in custody.

In Jamaica, 28-year-old Bethany Grant was granted $1 million bail following her arrest at Norman Manley International Airport. Grant is charged with conspiracy to traffic, possession, and dealing cocaine. Police discovered several packages of cocaine, disguised as festival dough mix, in her luggage during a security check. The seized cocaine had an estimated street value of $3 million.
