Britney Spears has expressed her ongoing bitterness regarding the 15-year conservatorship imposed upon her by her parents, Jamie and Lynne Spears. In a detailed social media post that was subsequently deleted, the 44-year-old singer described the period between 2008 and 2021 as a time of extreme restriction and loss of autonomy.

Spears detailed a grueling work schedule that required her to work seven days a week, while simultaneously being denied fundamental freedoms, such as the ability to travel by plane to visit friends. She also highlighted severe financial control, noting that she only held her first one-dollar bill five years ago.

The singer criticized the public perception of her mental health, stating, “And people sit back and honestly say I’m the crazy one.” She described the psychological impact of the arrangement, noting that the control extended to her intelligence and her ability to think independently. The legal conservatorship, which granted her father authority over her professional and financial decisions, was officially terminated in November 2021.
