Brittany Ferries to charter Wexford for Ireland-France routes
Brittany Ferries has announced the charter of the Vizzavona, which will be renamed Wexford, to enhance its services between France and Ireland starting in March 2027. The 1999-built RoPax vessel will replace the Norbay on the Rosslare-Cherbourg route.
The Wexford will significantly increase passenger capacity, offering 146 cabins compared to the 57 available on the current vessel. It also provides approximately 2,459 to 2,500 lane metres of garage space for freight. The ship will operate three weekly return crossings between Rosslare and Cherbourg, as well as one rotation between Portsmouth and Cherbourg.
CEO Christophe Mathieu stated that the charter is a positive step for the company and the regions served, noting that the vessel will better meet the high demand for holiday traffic on both sides of the Irish Sea. The ship will fly the French flag and be crewed by French seafarers.
