Brittany ranked best French region for retirement
A study conducted by BrokerChooser has ranked the 13 metropolitan regions of France to determine the best locations for retirement. The analysis evaluated six key factors, including real estate costs, access to healthcare, life expectancy after age 60, demographic aging, the proportion of retirees, and the availability of green spaces.
Brittany (Bretagne) ranked first with an overall score of 73.9 out of 100. The region was noted for its balance of accessible real estate and high proportion of green spaces, with 49.2% of its communes holding a “3 flowers or more” label. The median real estate price in Brittany is approximately €34,000 per room, significantly lower than in Île-de-France (€67,000) or Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (€72,000).
Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur secured second place with a score of 67.1 out of 100. Despite higher property prices, the region excelled in healthcare access and the life expectancy of its residents.
