Britvic prevents major production loss using predictive maintenance

Britvic, a major UK soft drink manufacturer, has successfully utilized AI-powered condition monitoring to prevent significant production losses. By implementing Alfa Laval’s monitoring solution on 107 pumps at its Rugby facility, the company was able to detect an imminent pump failure before it occurred.

Acting on a single notification, the maintenance team repaired the defective pump during a scheduled production stop. This intervention prevented six hours of unplanned downtime, the loss of 288,000 bottles of product, and the waste of 2,000 liters of cleaning water. Chris Heslop, an Engineering Specialist at Britvic, noted that the savings from this single notification covered the entire investment in the condition monitoring system.
