Brive school canteens prioritize nutrition and local products

In Brive, the return to school has seen the continued popularity of the turkey cordon bleu at the Roger Gouffault canteen. Local officials and parents participate in a quarterly commission to validate menus designed by dieticians, ensuring nutritional balance for the average of 2,000 primary school students served daily.

To comply with the EGalim law, the city focuses on providing fresh, local, and organic products, including one vegetarian menu per week. Despite rising raw material costs, the municipality manages food waste by adjusting orders to student numbers and redirecting undistributed meals to social grocery stores.
