Brčko District and UIO BiH sign agreement for faster VAT refunds on first homes

The Brčko District Government and the Indirect Taxation Authority of Bosnia and Herzegovina (UIO BiH) have signed an agreement to facilitate data access for VAT refunds on first-time real estate purchases. This agreement allows for direct electronic access to Brčko District's cadastral records, aiming to streamline and accelerate the processing of applications for citizens across Bosnia and Herzegovina.

To qualify for the VAT refund, the buyer and their household members must not have owned or possessed another residential property in Bosnia and Herzegovina within the last seven years. Renata Lukić, head of the Public Register Department for the Brčko District Government, noted that the agreement was designed with strict data protection measures to prevent misuse while reducing the administrative burden on cadastral offices.
