Bârlad opens ‘Ioniță Titinaș’ Day Center for the elderly
The ‘Ioniță Titinaș’ Day Center for the Elderly has officially opened its doors to the community in Bârlad, Romania, starting September 1. The facility is designed to provide a dedicated space for seniors to socialize, participate in activities, and spend leisure time.
Located on Nicolae Tonitza Street, the 343-square-meter center was built on the site of a former thermal power plant using approximately 2 million lei in European funds. The center has the capacity to host up to 80 people daily. Available activities include board games, gymnastics, dancing, creative workshops, and psychological counseling.
The center operates Monday through Friday, from 08:00 to 16:00. Mayor Dumitru Boroș stated that the initiative aims to improve the quality of life for lonely or marginalized seniors by offering opportunities for cultural events and social engagement.
