Brno authorities search for escaped serval hybrid

Authorities in Brno, specifically in the Bystrci district, are conducting a search for an escaped serval hybrid. The animal, a seven-year-old neutered male that is a cross between a serval and a Savannah cat, went missing from its owner on Sunday, September 13.

Search efforts involve municipal police, firefighters, and river units, utilizing drones to scan the area around the Brno Reservoir. The animal weighs approximately nine kilograms and is characterized by a slender build with distinct spotting on its forehead and between its ears.

While the animal is vaccinated and microchipped, officials warn the public not to approach it if spotted. Municipal police spokesperson Jakub Ghanem stated that while the risk of an attack is low, the animal could use its teeth and claws if it feels threatened. Citizens are instructed to call the emergency line 156 immediately upon sighting the animal.
