Brno female guard averts suicide on city bridge
A 21‑year‑old man climbed onto a bridge over a tram line in Brno and threatened to jump. Two female city guards, Zuzana Valehrachová (39) and Květoslava Svobodová (50), responded immediately, despite lacking special equipment. They talked with him, restrained his arms, and guided him to a safety zone on the bridge. The guards then escorted him to a psychiatric examination, where he calmed down and abandoned his suicide plan. He is now receiving professional support for his underlying difficulties.
The incident highlights the role of first‑responders in mental‑health emergencies and the availability of free crisis helplines in the Czech Republic.
