Brno hosts European youth athletics and international paraclimbing competitions
Various sporting events recently took place in Brno, featuring notable performances from Slovak and Slovenian athletes.
At the 21st European Children's Athletics Games, Slovak athletes secured 15 medals, including three gold, two silver, and ten bronze. Notable successes included 11-year-old Peter Šuran, who won the cricket ball throw and placed third in the 60m sprint and long jump, and Oliver Šmida, who won the 100m hurdles. Other medalists included Šimon Slivka in high jump and Alexandra Krupová in hurdles and long jump.
In paraclimbing, the first Czech Open International Competition saw Slovenian athletes excel. Nataša Privošnik won the open category after undergoing 19 surgeries, marking a significant personal milestone in her climbing journey. Other Slovenian participants included Pia Purkat, Neli Hren, and Rok Močnik, who also secured podium finishes.
