Brno motorway works: New D1-D2 ramp opens amid construction delays

Major infrastructure developments are underway at the D1 and D2 motorway interchange near Brno. Road workers have completed the first ramp connecting the D1 from Prague to the D2 toward Bratislava. This marks the first completed phase of a massive reconstruction project aimed at expanding the D1 to six lanes between Kývalka and Holubice.

Due to these changes, traffic patterns are shifting. Drivers should expect temporary lane reductions on the D1 during night hours. Additionally, the exit ramp from the D2 toward the D1 (Ostrava direction) will be closed from October 3 until November 28, requiring the use of detour routes through Modřice and Brno-východ.

Separately, the construction of a new exit from the D1 into the Černovická terasa industrial zone has been delayed. The Road and Motorway Directorate (ŘSD) has pushed the start of construction to spring 2025 following delays in the bidding process. The project, estimated at 1.8 billion CZK, aims to alleviate congestion on Řípská Street and includes the construction of roundabouts and a new cycle path.
