Brno Regional Court overturns verdict in Šlachta-Wollner legal dispute

The Brno Regional Court has overturned a previous ruling from a Břeclav court that required Robert Šlachta, chairman of Přísaha and former head of the Organized Crime Investigation Unit, to apologize to and pay 400,000 CZK to former Czech Television journalist Marek Wollner.

The legal dispute originated from statements made by Šlachta, who had accused Wollner of being linked to the Dozimetr corruption case and covering up organized crime by allegedly stalling investigative reports at Czech Television. Wollner characterized the reversal of the initial verdict as an “outrage.”

Petr Macinka, a political figure and leader of the Motorist movement, commented on the decision by congratulating Šlachta while simultaneously mocking Wollner. Macinka questioned whether the court's decision implied Wollner was a collaborator with the “Dozimetr mafia,” a reference to the ongoing corruption investigation involving municipal land and transport authorities.
