Brno returns to regular traffic following summer holidays
Brno has transitioned back into regular work traffic following the summer holiday period. While morning congestion has returned to key areas such as Úvoz, Koliště, and Hradecká, the city has avoided the total traffic collapses experienced in previous years due to improved coordination of construction projects.
Several infrastructure projects continue to impact movement. The Zvonařka bridge over the Ponávka river and the Hybeš bridge are operating under single-lane regimes for each direction. Tram services on Kníničská are also running on a single track through the end of September. Additionally, surface repairs are ongoing on the Old Highway, and major modernization work continues at the D1 and D2 highway intersection, which is expected to last until autumn 2027.
Despite these restrictions, many major construction sites that previously caused significant delays, such as Údolní and Jihlavská, are now fully operational. Subsurface work on the Vinohrady tunnel is also proceeding without affecting surface traffic.
