Brno takes control of 7 billion CZK multifunctional arena

The city of Brno has officially taken over the construction of a new multifunctional arena at the Brno Exhibition Centre. The project, which cost approximately 7 billion CZK, features a capacity of up to 13,000 people and is intended to serve as the home for the Kometa Brno ice hockey club.

While the city has assumed control, work continues on the installation of technologies and equipment. Although minor unfinished tasks were identified during the handover, officials stated these are standard for a project of this scale and will not prevent future use. The facility is currently undergoing technical testing and revisions, with a permit for trial operation expected by the end of November.

The arena is scheduled to host its first major event, the Women's European Handball Championship, from December 4 to 8. Other planned events include the World Climbing Championships and various hockey matches. The venue is designed to host up to 100 events annually, including international concerts, congresses, and major sporting tournaments.
