Broadcast technology firms advance mobile production solutions
Broadcast technology companies are implementing advanced mobile production solutions for high-end live broadcasting. Broadcast Solutions Group is showcasing several specialized vehicles, including a Mobile-Edge production truck for DMC Production. This unit utilizes a software-defined architecture based on a Grass Valley AMPP environment, operating with only two Dell servers to provide high-quality remote productions via standard network connections.
Additionally, a 20-camera Ultra-HD production truck is being constructed for a German public broadcaster, featuring Dolby Atmos audio and equipment from Sony, Lawo, and Riedel. The group also highlighted a specialized radio production vehicle built by TVC Solutions for Estonia’s public broadcaster, ERR.
In a separate modernization effort, Euro-TV has upgraded its largest mobile production unit, MPU-3, with the Sony MLS-X1 modular production switcher. Replacing a previous For-A system, the new Sony hardware supports UHD/HDR productions and utilizes a modular architecture with multiple processing nodes. The MPU-3 is primarily used for major alpine sporting events, such as the Ski World Cup and the Four Hills Tournament.
