Broadcaster Hector Ó hEochagáin reveals brain surgery for pituitary tumour

Irish television presenter Hector Ó hEochagáin has disclosed that he underwent brain surgery in Galway this past July to remove a small pituitary gland tumour. The presenter revealed that the growth, described as a six-millimetre adenoma, had been monitored for as long as 15 years.

Prior to the operation, Ó hEochagáin managed the condition with regular injections. The surgical procedure involved doctors accessing the gland through a small channel in the nose to remove the growth. Ó hEochagáin expressed gratitude for the medical professionals involved, describing the endocrinology team in Ireland as geniuses and noting that he trusted them implicitly during the frightening experience.
