Broadcom, AMD, and Intel navigate shifting AI semiconductor market

The semiconductor industry is undergoing a shift driven by increasing demand for specialized artificial intelligence hardware. Major players like Broadcom, AMD, and Intel are pursuing different strategic paths to capitalize on this growth.

Broadcom has established itself as a specialist in infrastructure software and custom networking chips, maintaining significant commercial agreements such as a $30 billion chip commitment with Apple. In its fiscal year 2025, Broadcom reported revenue of nearly $63.9 billion, a 23.9% increase from the previous year, with a net income of approximately $23.1 billion. The company demonstrates strong cash generation, with a free cash flow margin of 46.2% based on its most recent fiscal third-quarter results.

AMD is focusing on expanding its sales base, particularly in the data center sector, which saw revenue increase by 107% in its second quarter. While AMD reported $11.536 billion in revenue, its free cash flow margin stood at 13.5% for the period ending June 27, 2026.

Intel is currently navigating a manufacturing transformation and foundry expansion as it attempts to maintain its position in personal computing and server processors.
