Broadcom introduces VMware HyperArmor to protect hypervisors
Broadcom Inc. has announced VMware HyperArmor, a new software solution designed to protect the hypervisor underlying VMware Cloud Foundation. Unveiled at the VMware Explore event in Frankfurt, the tool aims to defend against the increasing speed and volume of AI-enabled cyberattacks.
HyperArmor targets two primary attack vectors: stolen root credentials and unpatched vulnerabilities. The software functions at the ESX layer, providing host-level virtual patching, controls for executable programs and scripts, and multi-factor authentication for remote access to VMware ESX hosts.
A key feature of the product is its ability to detect and block malicious actions without requiring host reboots or immediate software upgrades. This allows infrastructure teams to mitigate vulnerabilities and gain time to test and deploy official security patches without the pressure of machine-speed attacks.
