Institutional Investors Trim Stakes in Abbott Laboratories and Broadcom

Principal Financial Group Inc. reduced its holding in Abbott Laboratories by 3.0% in the first quarter, ending the period with 3,499,503 shares (about 0.20% of the company, worth roughly $359 million). Other institutional investors also adjusted positions in Abbott, including Fremont Management S.A., Danica Pension Livsforsikringsaktieselskab and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

Farmers & Merchants Trust Co of Chambersburg, PA cut its Broadcom stake by 9.4% during the first quarter, finishing with 14,904 shares, representing roughly 1.3% of the trust’s holdings and valued at about $4.6 million. Additional investors such as Fullerton Advisors, Northstar Asset Management and RFG Holdings reported modest changes in their Broadcom positions.

Both filings were disclosed in recent 13‑F reports filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
