Brock Faber undergoes surgery for skull fracture; ruled out indefinitely

Minnesota Wild defenseman Brock Faber has been ruled out indefinitely following surgery to repair a fractured skull. The injury occurred during a preseason game against the Dallas Stars when a deflected puck struck Faber near his left ear.

Faber initially remained in the game after the impact but was removed during the third period as his condition worsened. General Manager Bill Guerin confirmed that the surgery was successful and that Faber is currently recovering at home. Guerin stated, “He just had a serious surgery and an injury, so we will update you guys when the time is right,” adding that the team is following medical guidance.

The 24-year-old is a key component of the Wild's defense, coming off a career-high season where he recorded 51 points in 80 games. His absence is expected to significantly impact the team's lineup, particularly the defensive pairing alongside Quinn Hughes. While no official timeline for his return has been established, medical experts have noted the seriousness of head injuries of this nature.
