Brock Nelson celebrates Olympic gold and milestone NHL season

Brock Nelson completed a landmark year highlighted by winning an Olympic gold medal with Team USA and finishing his first full season with the Colorado Avalanche. During the 2026 Olympics, Nelson recorded two goals and one assist in six games, helping the United States defeat Canada 2-1 in overtime to secure its first men's hockey gold since 1980. This victory continued a family legacy, as his uncle Dave Christian was part of the 1980 Olympic team, while his grandfather and great-uncle also won gold in 1960.

In the NHL, Nelson played all 81 regular-season games for the Avalanche, totaling 65 points with 33 goals and 32 assists. He reached the 1,000-game career milestone and was named a finalist for the Frank J. Selke Trophy for defensive excellence. While the Avalanche secured the Presidents’ Trophy and reached the Western Conference Final, their season ended in a sweep by the Vegas Golden Knights. Nelson stated that the team remains motivated to return to the Stanley Cup Final, noting that the squad is “hungrier than ever.”
