Broke Fordwich named top Australian tourism town

The Broke Fordwich region has been recognized as one of Australia’s best tourism destinations at the 2026 Australian Top Tourism Town Awards. This follows a gold medal win at the NSW Top Tourism Town Awards in May.

Local operators achieved this recovery by collaborating rather than competing, following a period of severe hardship. The region faced significant challenges, including the 2019 bushfires which caused smoke taint in the 2020 vintage, the economic impact of COVID-19, and subsequent flooding.

Karin Adcock, president of the Broke Fordwich Wine Tourism Association and owner of Winmark Wines, noted that the community chose to work together to promote the region as a collective destination. The Broke Fordwich Wine Trail serves as a central component of this strategy, promoting a variety of local attractions including wineries, olive farms, cafes, and galleries.
