Bronte authorities seize produce and conduct drug enforcement operations
Law enforcement agencies in Bronte, Sicily, conducted a series of operations targeting food safety and narcotics. During inspections at a weekly market, the State Police and local authorities seized over 360 kilograms of fruit and vegetables from three vendors who failed to provide mandatory traceability documentation. These vendors were fined a total of 18,000 euros. The seized produce was tested for human consumption and subsequently donated to charities.
In separate operations, the Carabinieri focused on drug prevention and road safety among youth. A 22-year-old man was reported to judicial authorities for driving a quad while under the influence of cannabinoids; his vehicle was seized and his license suspended. Additionally, three other young individuals were reported to the Prefecture for personal drug use following the seizure of marijuana and hashish. These actions are part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal commercial activities and substance abuse in the region.
