Bronx authorities seize marijuana plants during eviction

New York City authorities discovered an illegal marijuana grow house in the Fordham section of the Bronx during an eviction operation at 2701 Marion Avenue. The New York City Sheriff’s Office seized 30 adult cannabis plants and numerous bags of marijuana from the apartment.

Neighbors reported experiencing persistent, unpleasant odors from the residence for several months. One resident stated the smell caused physical irritation to her throat, eyes, and nose, leading her to previously contact the FDNY under the suspicion of a gas leak. Other tenants reported seeing unidentified men entering and exiting the apartment quickly.

The discovery prompted the FDNY to return with hazardous materials units to remove the plants and equipment. Sheriff Edwin Raymond stated that the office remains committed to disrupting illicit operations that threaten public health and safety. The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this time.
