Bronx peephole murder cold case receives new lead via alleged confession

A new lead has emerged in the 2018 cold case involving the murder of Wendy Martinez, a 45-year-old woman shot through her apartment peephole in the Bronx. A woman has claimed to a private investigator that her son confessed to being the gunman.

According to recordings obtained by The New York Post, the mother stated that her son admitted to the killing during a conversation in her car in 2022. The son, who is currently employed by the city’s Administration for Children’s Services, reportedly initially denied involvement before allegedly admitting to it.

At the time of the murder in Concourse Village, police believed the shooting was a gang-related retaliation. Investigators suspected the target was actually the victim's son, Brian Solano, a former member of the Trinitarios gang. Martinez was killed when a masked gunman fired a single shot through her door. No suspects have been charged in the case since it occurred.
