Bronx pizzeria owner offers free food to those in need
Daniel Romano, owner of D’Romano’s Pizza in the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx, has gained national attention for a handwritten sign inviting hungry individuals to eat inside his establishment.
The initiative began after Romano witnessed a woman scavenging for food in his trash. He brought her inside, provided her with a fresh slice of pizza and water, and subsequently posted a sign in his window. The message states, “To the people eating out of my garbage, I have more love for you than you think. Please come in and tell me you’re hungry. I will forever give you a slice and fresh water to drink.”
Romano stated that the decision was inspired by his mother’s belief that a person makes better decisions when they are not hungry. He expressed a desire to combat negativity and provide support to those in need within his community.
