Bronx shooting leaves 87-year-old woman wounded by stray bullet

An 87-year-old woman, Elticeal Grant, was struck in the neck by a stray bullet during a daylight shooting in the Wakefield neighborhood of the Bronx on July 31. Grant stated she was unaware she had been hit until a bystander alerted her to the blood running down her neck.

The shooting occurred near the intersection of East 224th Street and Barnes Avenue. An 18-year-old man was also injured in the incident, sustaining a gunshot wound to the hip.

Police have arrested three 16-year-olds in connection with the gunfire. Two of the teenagers face charges of attempted murder and weapons possession, while the third is facing a charge of weapons possession.
