Brookfield Asset Management launches $2.1 B health‑care JV and $5.2 B industrial REIT acquisition in the United States

Brookfield Asset Management announced two major transactions involving U.S. real‑estate assets. The firm formed a long‑term joint venture with Healthpeak Properties, contributing a portfolio of 86 outpatient medical buildings valued at about $2.1 billion. Healthpeak retained a 51 % controlling interest while Brookfield holds a non‑controlling 49 % stake and received roughly $1.0 billion in proceeds.

Separately, Brookfield and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board agreed to acquire LXP Industrial Trust in an all‑cash deal valued at $5.2 billion, including debt. LXP’s portfolio comprises roughly 53 million square feet of Class A warehouse and distribution facilities across 108 properties in Sunbelt and Midwest markets. Shareholders will receive $61.20 per share, a premium of about 12‑20 % to recent trading levels. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to shareholder approval and a 40‑day go‑shop period.
