Brookfield expands global footprint with Oaktree acquisition and Brazil logistics purchase

Brookfield Asset Management completed its acquisition of Oaktree, a leading credit manager, integrating Oaktree’s expertise into Brookfield’s $365 billion credit platform. The deal makes the United States Brookfield’s largest market, accounting for over 60 % of its employee base and nearly half of its revenue. Howard Marks and Bruce Karsh will serve as co‑chairs of Oaktree, joining their existing roles at Brookfield.

In a separate transaction, Brookfield bought nine logistics parks from GLP in Brazil for roughly R$750 million (about US$148 million). The portfolio comprises about 350,000 sq m of warehouse space across the Southeast, Center‑West and Northeast regions. Analysts view the purchase as a yield‑focused trade, leveraging stable rental income amid Brazil’s high Selic rate of 14.25 %.

Both deals underline Brookfield’s strategy of expanding its alternative‑asset portfolio through acquisitions that strengthen its credit and real‑estate businesses worldwide.
