Brooklyn Nets start extension discussions with forward Michael Porter Jr

Brooklyn Nets general manager Sean Marks said the team is not in a hurry to finalize a new contract with forward Michael Porter Jr., whose current deal runs through the 2025‑26 season. Porter will be eligible for an extension during the 2026‑27 league year, after which he could become an unrestricted free agent.

Porter’s agent, Mark Bartelstein, is scheduled to meet Nets officials toward the end of the NBA Summer League to begin extension talks. If an extension does not materialize, the Nets may consider trading Porter rather than losing him for no compensation.
