Brooklyn pedestrian death leads to planned lawsuit against NYC
Shannon Lynch, a New York City EMT, plans to file a lawsuit against the City of New York and a Department of Sanitation truck driver following the death of her twin sister, Siobhan Lynch. The 30-year-old victim was struck and killed while crossing the street with a walk signal at the intersection of Bay Parkway and Cropsey Avenue in Brooklyn.
The collision occurred at a location known for heavy traffic where vehicles from the Belt Parkway intersect with pedestrians accessing Bensonhurst Park. Shannon Lynch has characterized the incident as more than an accident, questioning the speed and turning radius of the heavy sanitation vehicle involved. An autopsy report confirmed the cause of death as blunt force trauma.
A GoFundMe campaign has been established to assist Shannon Lynch with childcare expenses following the tragedy.
