Brooklyn pimp Omari Scott sentenced to 50 years for human trafficking and murder

Omari “Prince” Scott, 45, has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for human trafficking and ordering the murder of a rival pimp, Cleveland Clay. The sentencing follows a trial that detailed the operations within the “Penn Track” area of East New York, Brooklyn.

Despite the conviction, sex workers in the Pennsylvania Avenue area, also known as “the Blade,” report that illegal activity continues unabated. Workers described a system of coercion and violence, noting that pimps often demand high nightly quotas and control the women's access to food and money.

Local sex workers expressed that the NYPD typically focuses on outreach rather than arresting clients, often merely moving workers a few blocks away rather than disrupting the trade. Current workers stated that the conditions of exploitation and ruthless competition remain prevalent in the district.
