Dave Green and Andrea Urmston reunite as long‑lost siblings at Manchester Airport

Dave Green, 60, was a bus‑station supervisor at Manchester Airport and Andrea Urmston, 53, serviced the airport’s vending machines. They became close friends in 2005, bonding over motorbikes and daily conversation, often finishing each other’s sentences. In 2007 Green disclosed that he had been adopted and that his birth name was Stuart Proudlove. Urmston, whose maiden name was also Proudlove, recognised the surname and realised they shared the same mother, Susan, who had given birth at age 15.

The siblings confirmed their birth date – 24 March 1966 – and arranged a meeting. While driving to Susan’s home, Green recognised that his former bus route passed the house and the school his sister had attended. The reunion was described as “surreal” and “amazing”, with “lots of tears” and embraces. A baby photograph of Green, sent by his adoptive parents to Susan shortly after his adoption, was also displayed in his adoptive family’s home. The story highlights the emotional impact of long‑lost family reunions discovered through ordinary workplace friendships.
